My sweet husband of almost 41 years is staying with his dad for a few weeks as his dad fell and broke his shoulder. The doctor did not recommend surgery for him as he is 87, so he is to keep his left shoulder immobile for 4-6 weeks while it tries to heal. So my wonderful man and I are dating again when he gets a chance to slip away for a few hours or few days. This Saturday he came home and fixed me breakfast (or should I say brunch). We then went junkin' - it was a good day. Stopped at Goodwill (1/2 price day on everything!!!) and a thrift store that I had been wanting to scout out.
I had already gotten some pieces during my work-week lunch excursions and needed just a few more items for some projects I had been mulling over. So here are my finds...another old suitcase, three canisters, a pitcher, a cute little vinyl purse, a porcelain domed cat, a scripted plate, two old Happy Time plates circa the 50's, a brass candle holder, four brass planters, an old primitive wooden shelf, an old white kitchen chair, a cute little creamer, an old circa 48-53 Old Spice glass shaving mug, and a glass plate on wrought iron stand.
So, I am spray painting the brass planters white and will attempt to do a decoupage transfer onto them and/or paint them w/black design a la Francois (total cost of the 4 - $5.00)(previous store sticker totals $45) . I will spray paint the brass candlestick a hot pink, drill holes in the center of the two Happy Time plates and assemble for a two-tier serving stand (total cost $7.00). I have already removed the back off the little chair and will place two suitcases on its seat as a base - paint it all white, open the top suitcase and do a table top vignette inside the suitcase (total cost $20). I have planted into the canisters and pitcher as well as the purse - they all look wonderful. The Old Spice mug will go into my husband's bathroom and the glass plate on the wrought iron stand in mine (I am thinking about spray painting the glass).
These little projects will keep me busy for a few weekends and they will help to give an outlet to my creative side. Enjoy the pictures...

| And now it holds my mail. I downloaded postmarked envelopes, postage, etc from the internet from every place I had ever lived and ModPodged them onto the container. I love the way it looks...and it holds all my mail. An easy and satisfying project. |
